Employment Opportunities at Twyford

Twyford Church of England High School is a large very successful and heavily oversubscribed comprehensive school of nearly 1400 students including about 400 in the 6th Form, which was awarded "Outstanding" status by Ofsted in 2007. The School was also awarded Specialist School status for Music and ICT in 2005. The school is known for its musical excellence including our very successful Gospel Choir. In 2009 the school was awarded HPSS and its second specialism is MFL.

Our Support and Leadership Team (SLT) provides support and direction for the wider team of over 90 teaching staff.  We have a strong belief in a united staff who perform as a team within a ‘no blame culture’.  All staff are encouraged to play their part in school development planning, and both staff and students are expected to set themselves personal targets for improvement.

TEACHING

The Governors seek to appoint the following posts

BUSINESS/ECONOMICS TEACHER

The Governors are seeking to appoint a well qualified, highly motivated & enthusiastic Business/Economics teacher to join a highly successful departmental team. The post is suitable for a newly qualified teacher or someone with teaching experience. The Business Studies & Economics departments offer excellent opportunities for career development, particularly at KS5. The current departments offer 3 Business courses as well as Economics and take responsibility for the delivery of a BTEC course in Law. Business Studies is a very popular and successful option at both GCSE & A Level. Last year 70% of students achieved A* - C at GCSE and 100% of students passed the A2 exam with 60% A/C grades. Economics is also highly successful at KS5 with 100% of students achieving A – C grades at A Level last year

PSYCHOLOGY TEACHER

The Governors are seeking to appoint a well qualified, highly motivated & enthusiastic Psychology Teacher to join an expanding and highly successful departmental. The post is suitable for a newly qualified teacher or someone with teaching experience. Psychology is a popular AS & A Level option (4 groups at AS and 3 at A2).  Last year’s Psychology results were 92% pass rate at AS with 55% A – C and 100% pass rate at A2 with 76% A – C. The overall ALPS rating of the school is “2” (excellent) and Post 16 growth has been significant and sustained. The post has been created as a result of this growth

Closing date for applications - 12noon on 16th March 2010, interviews will be held on 22nd March 2010
